Around the World blog Hop -- round 2

I was asked to take part in the Around the World Blog hop by an awesome quilter Jen @ Quilter in the Closet -- She's an awesome quilter and we initially met doing swaps when I was her swap partner. She's one of those lucky people that live in California near the coast and get to bask in sunshine most of the year.

So a little about me ---

I'm a North Carolina girl and love quilting. I quilt every opportunity I get and several times I have been asked if I sleep -- the finishes for 2014 are here and the last quarter are here. I do sleep, it's one of my other favorite things to do but I also try to quilt a little each day or at least visit my fabric stash or do something in my craft room.

I've been quilting for nearly my whole life and got started as a helper to my Aunt who was colorblind. She really promoted my love of color and combination of fabrics. As for my current quilting I have a very eclectic style and love all fabrics and putting my own spin on things. I'm not the best at following a pattern so many times I use pictures of quilts to recreate them or as motivation for the finished project. Here's a sampling of things that I created last year.
I'm quite addicted to Pinterest and swaps. In the next few months I have already signed up for 4 and just caught wind of another few great ones that are coming up -- how many swaps are to many? Last year I did 10 swaps, this year I hope to do about the same, maybe more.

Along with that I am joining in on 3 bees this year -- these are a first for me but so far I am really enjoying seeing the blocks that people are selecting and at least one of them has sparked a new project for me to do this year. It's a great scrap buster and since I already cut my scraps into squares using my accuquilt half the work is done ahead of time.

I love meeting new people and trying new things so I am also going to my first quilt retreat outside of my awesome guild -- I'm going to Stash bash in April and am super excited about all the IG peeps that I will finally meet in real life.

My hubs and I have been married for 6 years -- he's a great fabric enabler, quilt holder and quilt lover. He loves exploring new places and trying out different roads and I love directing him to quilt shops that we haven't been to before.
We have 4 fur babies. They are the best quilt testers and assistants a gal could ask for, if you check out my instagram feed you'll see lots of pictures of Mr. Nugget.
So speaking of people I'd love to meet in real life here is an awesome blogger / quilter that I'd like to introduce to you all, she have kindly agreed to tell you about herself next week.

Stephanie Alvarez -- quarter incher -- I met her through one of my early online swaps. she makes some awesome wallets and quilts. while being another one of those lucky people that lives on the west coast.

  1. My husband is a fabric enabler too. He enjoys going in quilt stores and helps me pick out fabric.
