Swooning -- a completion

I've been a fan of Thimble Blossom's Swoon pattern for some time but never seemed to get around to making it.
Swoon Pattern
I bought Pat Bravo's Rock N Romance line with the intention of making a queen size quilt for my bed out of it but put it off.

Earlier this year swoon came around again in a quilt along and I joined up. Now by this time my love of doing a huge quilt from the line had wained and we have a bed quilt that my husband loves so I regrouped on the design and narrowed things down to a patchwork version of swoon.

I made a few modifications to be easier on the math with these prints and have had the top completed since March, when I sent it to the The Green Apricot for quilting.
Angela (and Juan) did a great job with it and all I had left was to bind it. Truth be told i got the binding attached right after stash bash but then never got around to turning it.
I am happy to report that it is now complete and all ready for display in my bedroom.

This is my 1st finish for the 3rd quarter finish a long.

What does the 3rd quarter hold?

As we move into the last half of 2016 it's time to think about the overall goals of the year and what projects I will be linking up this quarter. I'm hoping that it's filled with lots of time for sewing and many completed projects, since as usual I have way more goals that are likely to be completed.

I have some ongoing items that I will be doing monthly
-- bee blocks for 2 hives, maybe picking up a 3rd and I've been doing quite a bit of hive jumping
-- the Traveling quilt groups got started in June so that's going to be an awesome adventure till Feb 2017
-- Block of the Month till October

Things that I know I will be finishing (deadlines)
-- McKinney Guild Swap (7/26)
-- Star mini Quilt Swap (8/15)
-- 1st year clothing quilt for McKinley (9/30)

These projects are all in the works
-- Scrappy Crossroads (needs binding when it returns from Rena)
-- Mini Moda Love star -- needs quilting and binding
-- KS bonus jewel box from extra blocks
-- Weekender Bag as part of the sew a long
-- tessellations -- still 25 blocks to be put together
-- Moda Modern Building Blocks -- I'm going to make an abbreviated version of this one
-- Lucky 21
Some items that I want to get started
-- Plus side quilt with Fig and Plum
-- Kate Spain Christmas spectacular
-- Broken Herringbone Quilt
-- Swoon
--All Squared up using Priory Square
-- Ellie Crafty Carrier
-- Chevron and On Quilt with Botanics charm packs

-- gift items or other swaps that might come up

In non quilting goals I have a wedding scrapbook to put together that I will be gifting to a lovely couple -- I had plenty of supplies just sitting around waiting to be made into something or be sold so I thought this would be a great gift for them.

That's 18 things plus the ongoing items, I think that might be plenty to keep me going this quarter.

March City Sampler check in

For the February linky I kinda cheated a little and whipped up 13 blocks in one evening -- after the link up went live but before the end of the week. I had the blocks precut and ready but other things were taking away my focus. My goal heading into the next month was to complete the 9 remaining blocks and start to assemble the rows. I was thinking that a completed quilt top might be aiming a little high with the other goals and things in the works. So, how did it all work out?

block 62 -- # 84

block 63 -- # 89
block 64 -- # 92
block 65 -- # 8
block 66 -- # 15
block 67 -- # 45
block 68 -- # 51
block 69 -- # 64
block 70 -- # 54

So my goal of all 70 was obtained as a part of #quiltnon16 a super fun online group of people not going to quilt con. That left me with another 3.5 weeks to see what I could manage as far as rows.

I finally pulled all the blocks out of my book and all the sticky tabs so that I could renumber the block layout and discovered that I actually made 71 blocks some how so I guess that's better than being short.
I decided to try laying them out in book order and think I generally like the color balance and flow but I haven't yet decided if I will be moving any of them around or really what I am going to do about the extra block.
(sorry for this poor photo I laid them out on the floor of my office one afternoon at lunch time).

I have my background fabric ready and want to start making rows very soon.

Can't wait to see what all you other creative ladies have accomplished this month, who knows maybe next month I will have rows or a quilt top but I think that this one may be heading out to the longarmer.
